Demon Holiday Classic opens tonight at L-E

Lugoff-Elgin will host its 26th annual Demon Holiday Classic wrestling tournament beginning tonight and continuing through Saturday inside the Demons Den and the school’s Wellness Center.

This year’s tournament includes 35 programs including the event hosts, Camden, defending 5A state champion River Bluff and Cane Bay.

The tournament action will kick off at 5:30 p.m. tonight and begin again on Saturday at 9 a.m.

Admission is $7 per day or, $10 for a two-day pass. 

Friday’s opening round pairings will take place on six mats. The second round championship matches are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Demons Den while the first round consolation matches will be going on at that time inside the adjoining Wellness Center.

The second round consolation matches are, tentatively, slated to begin at 8:30 p.m. to close out the evening.

The championship quarterfinals will start at 9 a.m. Saturday in the main gym with the third round consolation pairing behind held at that same time in the Wellness Center. The fourth round consolation semifinals are slated for 10:30 a.m. with the championship semis and the consolation quarterfinals scheduled for 12:30 p.m. The consolation semifinals are slated to begin at 2:30 p.m. with the medal matches scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
