Bobby Boland, who stepped down as Kershaw County administrator in 2008 after seven years on the job, announced Monday he will retire as administrator in Lee County effective April 22.

He was first hired as a consultant for Lee County in mid-2008. He was named administrator there in 2009.

Following Boland’s departure, Kershaw County Council selected Clay Young, Dillon County administrator, to lead county operations in September 2008. Young’s last day on the job was in January, when he returned to his position in Dillon County.

A search for a new administrator here is underway. Former Camden City Manager Frank Broom is serving as interim county administrator during this process.
