Stover Middle School, Blaney Elementary School and Doby’s Mill Elementary School partnered with The Elgin Toy Round Up and Caring Hands Project, which serves Elgin families and the elderly at Christmas time.

This year, the schools kicked off the project in November. Students, staff and community members worked tirelessly, yet lovingly, to collect toys, canned goods, stocking stuffers, teddy bears and monetary donations to help provide a brighter Christmas for families in need. An assembly was held on Thursday, Dec. 14, to celebrate and showcase the collections and donations -- more than 100 teddy bears, 375 toys, 2,800 cans, 451 books and $2,100. The hope is that in the coming years, this project will grow and more families and elderly people in the Elgin community will be assisted.
