Volleyball instructional series to be hosted at Lugoff-Elgin

Volleyball players who were unable to participate in club volleyball this past season or, who just want to receive invaluable instruction and “extra touches,” there is a new opportunity now available in Kershaw County.

The 2018 Palmetto Volleyball Instructional Series, sponsored by the Lugoff-Elgin Trident Club, is now accepting players into its program which will be held at L-E High school or, a possible alternative. Only 24 spots are available per session for players in the sixth through 12 grades. The session dates are Jan. 20, Feb. 10, Feb. 24, March 17, March 31, April 14, April 28 and May 12. Players can attend one or, all nine sessions. The cost is $50 per session. Players are asked to organizers a week before each training session to reserve their spot.

A sample training session includes: 12:30 - 1 p.m. – Registration; 1-1:15 p.m. -   Dynamic warm-up and flexibility; 1:15 -2 p.m. -   Session 1 (Skills instruction); 2:10 – 2:55 p.m. - Session 2 (Skills instruction); 3:05 – 3:50 p.m. - Jump training; 4:00 – 4:25 p.m. - Offensive emphasis game play; 4:30 – 5:00 p.m. - Defensive emphasis game play

The staff will include two volleyball coaches and one jump training instructor at each session. The staff includes: Megan Aiello, head volleyball coach at Spartanburg Methodist College;  Deanna Unger, assistant volleyball coach at Spartanburg Methodist College; Keiyara Stevenson, head volleyball coach at Columbia College; Katie Ham, head volleyball coach at Lugoff-Elgin High School; Cindy Esposito, head volleyball coach at Dutch Fork High School; Dr. Mike Armstrong, Ed.D, NBCT, NASE, CTBS, USAW, SPARQ, head strength/speed coach at L-EHS and Garrett Knight, CTBS, assistant strength/speed Coach at L-EHS
