Lugoff-Elgin will host first and second round 4A Lower State wrestling matches Saturday inside the Demons Den. The two first round matches will begin at 11 a.m. with winners meeting in the second round which is scheduled to begin approximately 45 minutes following completion of the first round pairings.

The hosts Demons (28-3), ranked third in the most recent scmat.com 4A poll, face A.C. Flora, the fourth-place finisher from Region 5, in first round action while Region 8 runner-up Berkeley will take on St. James, the third-place finisher from Region 7, on the other mat.

Should the Demons win two matches on Saturday, they will host Monday’s third round pairing inside the Demons Den. As long as they continue to win, Ted Monroe’s charges will remain at home for the duration of the Lower State portion of the tournament which concludes with the Lower State championship next Wednesday.

Camden traveling to West-Oak: Camden, which finished third in Region 4-AAA and ranked 15th in the scmat.com AAA state rankings, will go up against Region 2 runner-up Emerald at West-Oak High School in Saturday’s AAA Upper State first round match. The start time for the first round is set for 11 a.m.

The other half of the bracket will have defending AAA state champion and top-ranked West-0ak hosting Newberry. The winners will meet in the second round following a break after the conclusion of the first round matches.

North Central heads to Liberty: North Central, ranked seventh in the most recent scmat.com AA poll, will compete in the 16-team AA Upper State tournament at Liberty High School on Saturday.

The Knights received a first round bye and take on 4-AA rival and sixth-ranked Buford in second round action in Liberty.
