By now, everyone knows how bad this flu season has been. People all over the county, the state and nation have been hit with this year’s strain of flu.

Influenza is no joke. The flu is never easy to deal with -- it’s always a pernicious,  miserable experience -- but this year’s has been particularly potent. So be careful out there. Wash your hands. A lot. Use hand sanitizer. Avoid touching your face. Avoid places where people with the flu have been. And while the vaccination has not been as effective this year, if you haven’t gotten a shot, go ahead and get it. It’s cheap; it will offer some protection; and if you do come down with the flu, anyway, it can help minimize the duration and discomfort.

Also -- and this is very important -- if you’re sick, stay home! Do not go to work; do not go to school; do not go out around people. You will only prolong your illness and worse, you will spread it to others.

Don’t do that.

We hope this thing passes very soon. In the meantime, stay well and if you can’t stay well, stay home.
