KHGC meets Monday

King Haiglar Garden Club will meet on February 12, 2018 at the home of Margie Lane. Virginia Isler and Isabel Strickland will be co-hostesses.

The program will be, “‘Ten things you should know about trees,” presented by Liz Gilland.

The theme for artistic arrangement is “Hearts and flowers represent love.”  Judges for artistic and horticulture will be Joan Riddick, Judy Smith and Helen Young.

Garden Maintenance for February will be Joan Riddick and Grace Young.

February’s flower is the iris, which expresses peace of mind, friendship, faith, hope, and wisdom.

Gardening Tips for February (Clemson Extension)

• Bulbs - it’s time to buy your fall-flowering bulbs, such as dahlias, gladioli, cannas, and lilies.  Don’t plant them yet, but wait for warmer weather (the soil temperature must be at least 55 degrees F).
