The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Foundation (KCSF) Board of Directors is accepting 2018 nominations for the Leonard Price Friend of Law Enforcement Award. The KCSF established the award in 2012 to recognize the support of Kershaw County residents for the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office. The award is named after the late Leonard L. Price, a former resident of the North Central area of Kershaw County who invested heavily in supporting law enforcement.

“Public support of law enforcement is more important now than ever,” KCSF Board Chair Steve Zobel said. “Kershaw County residents have strongly supported the men and women of the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office. We want to thank and honor those citizens who have stepped up to help.”

In 2017, the KCSF named Cheryl Jones as its 2017 recipient. Jones has worked to turn her family tragedy into good for this community. Jones’ son Brandon was killed by a drunk driver. Since then, Jones has volunteered to help work for tougher DUI laws and served as the local chapter contact for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). Jones has also attended court hearings to ensure DUI laws are enforced and she has participated in the monthly Law Enforcement Network luncheons to support Kershaw County’s efforts to crack down on drunk/impaired driving.

“We are looking for public input for our 2018 honoree,” KCSF board member Marion Bennett said. “We hope people will take the time to nominate those in our community who strongly support the men and women who serve and protect us.”
