We would like to offer our great appreciation and hearty congratulations to all who made the second annual Irish Festival happen. Aside from the normal hiccups involved in such a monumental organizational project, the event seems to not only have run very smoothly, but attracted quite a crowd. It is gratifying to see such a fun-filled event take off and we are sure the coming years will bring more of the luck of the Irish to Camden.

Indeed, with Camden and Kershaw County pulling out all the stops to generate economic development, bringing in more events such as the Irish Festival seems to be a strong recipe for success. Tourism is always a good bet -- tourists come to town, spend money and go home. Or more accurately, events like this one positively showcase our great community while at the same time not straining our services and infrastructure.

That said, we certainly want to put out the welcome mat and would love for more people to make the decision to call Camden and Kershaw County home. When they’re done right, events like these are important and effective tools in helping to make that happen.
