Blaney Elementary School Principal Ed Yount will become principal at Woodruff Elementary School in Spartanburg County starting July 1.

“Mr. Yount has done a great job as principal at two of our elementary schools,” Kershaw County School District Superintendent Dr. Frank Morgan said. “His warm personality and love of children is obvious. He makes learning fun and will be sorely missed, but we definitely understand his desire to move closer to his family.”

Yount has been principal at Blaney Elementary since 2013 and helped the school to receive a South Carolina Distinguished Art Grant and a Palmetto Silver Award.

He also served as the principal at Camden Elementary School (CES) for eight years. Under his leadership, CES received a Palmetto Gold Award and two Palmetto Silver Awards. The school also earned a National Blue Ribbon Lighthouse Award and was a two-time finalist for the South Carolina School Improvement Council’s Dick and Tunky Riley Award.

“I am very thankful for the opportunities I have been given while in Kershaw County,” said Yount. “I am excited for this new adventure and where God is leading my wife and me.”

Yount was named the Kershaw County Principal of the Year in 2012.
