Goals have been harder and harder for the opposition to come by against the Lugoff-Elgin girls’ soccer teams.

The Lady Demons won their eighth straight match, with the final six of those via shutout, in blanking visiting Rock Hill, 3-0, in a Monday night match played at L-E Stadium.

Madison Guthrie pushed aside four Rock Hill shots between the posts for the win which was her 11th clean sheet of the season for Carl Spoto’s girls who will carry a 12-2 record into spring break.

Against the 5A Lady Bearcats, L-E used an 11 minute stretch in the second half to blow open a scoreless game. Sophia Moschella, Chandler Moore and Johanna Garcia scored a goal each for the Lady Demons who received assists from Sarah Turner, Ashley Smith and Kadyn Evans.

“The entire team played great defense,” Spoto said, “but the back four of Turner, Fatima Agredano, Ashlyn Dasho and Darby Mihelich were particularly stout.”

The Lady Demons improved to 5-0 in Region 6-4A play with an 11-0 win over Darlington last Friday.

Garcia had a hat trick for the winners who received a pair of goals each from Darby Belcher and Moschella. Sarah Barnett, Kaitlyn Wheeler, Smith and Mihelich all tallied a goal apiece. Abby Capps, Sydney Stanley, Moschella and Belcher all added assists while Guthrie kept the Lady Falcons off the scoreboard.

The Lady Demons have next week off and will return to action when they host Hartsville on Tuesday, April 11.
