We would like to take a moment to thank everyone who worked so hard to make the Carolina Cup a success this year. A number of changes have taken place and it appears they have been for the good.

We were certainly saddened to see the fall race event discontinued, but certainly understand bottom lines and business decisions. Happily, it seems many of the elements from the fall races have been successfully incorporated into the great spring tradition we all know and look forward to -- up to and including the prestigious Colonial Cup race.

It is our understanding that there were fewer incidents requiring the assistance and intervention of law enforcement; in fact, the Camden Police Department and Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office reported significantly fewer arrests and citations, which is always good news.

We haven’t heard final numbers yet, but understand quite a few folks showed up for a day of equestrian expertise and good old fashioned springtime revelry. We hope those who attended not only had a great time but will encourage friends and cohorts to keep coming back.

Nothing quite exemplifies Southern hospitality, good times, strong traditions and sublime, unique beauty -- indeed, the quality of life in Camden and Kershaw County -- like the Carolina Cup on a fine spring day.
