The West Wateree-Lugoff Rotary Club recently awarded its annual scholarships to seven Lugoff-Elgin High School (L-EHS) seniors for outstanding accomplishments both inside and outside the classroom. Each student received $2,000 and spoke at a recent club meeting about their college plans. Since 1990, the club has awarded 123 scholarships to L-EHS seniors totaling $93,000, all of which was raised by club members. Shown are (front row, from left) recipients Alex Robertson, Meredith Hall, Caitlyn Surratt, Zoe Sanders, Evan Graves and Rashawn Spann. Hannah Griggs was unable to attend. In back are (from left) West Wateree Rotary Club scholarship committee chairman Bud Goodrich and club president Keith Watkins. The club fundraising event for the scholarships is the Wild Game Dinner. The 2018 dinner on March 24 raised almost $20,000, which will help fund future scholarships.
