Camden scored the first eight runs and closed with an eight-run bottom of the sixth to take a 16-6 win over visiting North Central in a Wednesday night softball game played at Marcus Warren Field.

Jolie Clyburn earned the pitching victory as she scattered five hits as the Lady Bulldogs gained a split of their season series with their in-county rival.

Camden used a four-run bottom of the first, including a two-run Bri Dow triple to grab a 4-0 lead. Allie Phillips added her second RBI of the night in the third as she singled in Christian Welch to make it a 5-0 lead which grew to 8-0 with a three-run fifth.

The Lady Knights scored six runs in the top of the sixth to narrow the gap to 8-6 with Kynlee Cobb and Ciara Black having RBI singles while Katelyn Hall, Kali Tomlin, Madison Dixon and Rhi Hendrix all drove in a run.

Camden answered by putting the game away early eight an eight-run bottom of the sixth. Maddie McNeill, whose highlight reel-worthy catch in the right center field gap prevented further damage in the top of the sixth, ended the game with her first home run as a Lady Bulldog in the bottom half of the inning.

McNeill, who came on in relief of Clyburn, finished the night by driving in four runs for Lynn Looney’s charges. Dow went 4-for-5 with a triple, double and three RBI. Christian Welch had three hits while Phillips had a two-hit night while driving home a pair of runners.

Cobb had half of NC’s four hits in the setback.
