Scott McCollum of Elgin graduated from Troy University during Term 3 of the 2017/2018 academic year. McCollum graduated with the Bachelor of Science degree.


Ann Pennebaker of Camden was recently initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Pennebaker was initiated at College of Charleston.

Pennebaker is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only.


Oglethorpe University congratulates Robert Dougherty-Bliss of Lugoff for earning recognition on the Fall 2017 Dean’s List for academic performance. Dougherty-Bliss was among 354 Oglethorpe students named to the 2017 Dean’s List for achieving at least a 3.50 term grade-point average, while earning 12 or more semester hours.


Gabrielle Richbow, of Rembert was inducted into Phi Eta Sigma, a national honor society for freshmen.

Phi Eta Sigma is a national honor society that inducts first-year students after they have completed one full semester of college with outstanding academic performance. To be eligible, students must have at least a 3.5 GPA. The society is chartered on 378 different college campuses across the nation, and was founded in 1923. This year’s ceremony inducted 135 new members.
