Camden Mayor Alfred Mae Drakeford (front, center) is all smiles as she presents a proclamation to the Camden Police Department (CPD) declaring this week, May 13-10, as National Police Week in Camden. The proclamation also recognizes today, May 15, as Police Memorial Day, Accepting the award are (from left) CPD officers Carl Smith and Karen DeVors, CPD Chief Joe Floyd and CPD Lt. Penny Lloyd. Looking on are (back row, from left) Camden City Council members Deborah Davis, Stephen Smoak and Joanna Craig. Floyd said 360 names of officers killed in the line of duty are being added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C., this year, including 129 killed during 2017 and 231 officers who had been killed during previous years, but whose stories had been lost to history until now.
