Take a Child Fishing bass tourney on tap for Saturday

The 35th annual Take a Child Fishing Bass Tournament, in memory of Lib and Tommy Phillips, will be held on Saturday, May 19 at Clearwater Cove Marina on Lake Wateree.

Boats can take to the water at 6:30 a.m. or, at safe light from any location on the lake. Weigh-in will begin at noon at Clearwater Cove Marina. There is a five-fish limit per boat with a 14-inch minimum weigh-in length. Trolling, can poles and live bait are prohibited.

The entry fee is $30 per two-person team. Further information on the event may be obtained by calling Bill Childers at (803) 669-9505 or by logging onto 521 Bait & Tackle Shop’s Facebook page. 

Registration will also take place on Saturday at Clearwater Cove Marina until 6:30 a.m.

The two-person team must include one child --- maximum age of 16 --- and one adult, who will be responsible for the safety and well-being of the child throughout the event. All boaters must wear a life vest while the big motor is running.
