A memorial service to celebrate the life of William Blake “Bill” Ford, 66, of Camden, will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Bethesda Presbyterian Church. Rev. Dr. William “Chip” Summers will officiate. The family will receive friends in Westminster Hall following the service. Memorials may be made to Kershaw County Library, 1304 Broad Street, Camden, SC 29020, Food for the Soul, 110 E. DeKalb Street, Camden, SC 29020, or Bethesda Presbyterian Church, 502 DeKalb Street, Camden, SC 29020.

Bill died Monday, May 21, 2018. He was born in Camden, SC, the son of Alice Blake Ford and the late Clarence Maxwell Ford. Bill was a graduate of Camden High School and Wake Forest University. He taught at Bentley College in Waltham, MA and Queens College in Charlotte, NC before returning home to Camden and the family business, Blake and Ford.

Bill was an active member of his community, including Camden Rotary Club and Bethesda Presbyterian Church. Known as “Boomer,” he could often be found at his favorite place growing up and as an adult, Camden Country Club. Above all, he considered his daughters to be his greatest accomplishment.

Bill is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ruth Dunn “Ruthie” Ford; daughters, Jennifer Ford Allen (Chris) of Spartanburg, Jessica Ford of Columbia, and Anna Ford of Charleston; sisters, Kay Ford Faguet (Robert) of Pacific Palisades, CA and Alice Ford Collins of Atlanta, GA; and his brother, Charles Stephen Ford (Gillian Overing) of High Point, NC.

Bill was predeceased by his father and his brother, Robert Maxwell Ford.
