Fakoury earns philanthropy certification

Roy M. Fakoury, CFP®, Managing Principal, Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network – Camden Financial Partners, LLC has earned the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) professional designation from the Richard D. Irwin Graduate School of the American College of Financial Services, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. The CAP® program provides the knowledge and tools needed by professionals in the nonprofit and financial services fields to help clients reach their charitable giving objectives while also helping them meet their estate planning and wealth management goals.

Candidates for the CAP® designation must complete a minimum of three courses in philanthropic studies at the Irwin Graduate School and six hours of rigorous, supervised written examinations. The curriculum addresses the advanced design, implementation and management of charitable gift techniques and strategies, as well as philanthropic tools including charitable trusts, private foundations, supporting organizations, donor-advised funds, pooled income funds and charitable gift annuities. More than 1,150 individuals have been awarded the CAP® designation since its inception in 2003.

CAP® graduates are qualified to bring gift planners and well-chosen advisors together in common purpose to help wealthy families create inspired legacy plans. In addition, professionals who have earned the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® designation help donors improve their communities by maximizing the effective application of their financial resources.

A 1986 graduate of the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, Fakoury earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance. He presently serves as chair of the KershawHealth Advisory Board, a board member of the Community Medical Clinic of Kershaw County and a member of the Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network Licensee advisory board. Prior to affiliating and becoming an independent licensee with Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network, Fakoury was employed as a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley for 13 years and as a loan officer with Bank of America for 11 years.
