After having used a scheduled four-game preseason tournament in Florence to get the bugs out of their system, the Kershaw County Post 17 Senior American Legion baseball team begins League III play this week with three games in four nights.

Under the direction of first-year head coach Stephen Carmon, the 17ers will travel to Jimmy White Park in Kellytown for tonight’s league opener against Hartsville. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.

Kershaw County kicks off its six-game regular season home slate on Thursday when Hartsville comes to American Legion Park in Camden to complete the two-game home and home series at 7 p.m.

Friday, the locals make the short trip along Highway 521 to Thomas Sumter Academy Field in Dalzell for that evening’s game with host Dalzell-Shaw. That contest is also slated for a 7 p.m. start.

The 17ers will have next week off before playing their most important stretch of the regular season beginning with a trip to Lexington on Monday, June 11. The two sides meet in Camden one night later. On Wednesday, June 13, P-17 heads to Sumter before the P-15s make their lone visit to American Legion Park the next night.
