In the 25 May 2018 edition of the Camden Chronicle-Independent, Chairman Burns was quoted as saying that during his first term, more than 600 jobs had been created in Kershaw County. Not too many weeks ago I read in your newspaper that only 25 new jobs have been started here during this time; Which number is correct? If 600 jobs have been created, where are they?

I took time to do some research on the South Carolina Department of Commerce website and could not see any reference to new jobs in Kershaw County, and I went as far back as 2012. Also, yesterday, 26 May 2018, during the “Rash Thoughts” radio show on AM 560, the hosts mentioned that although more people are moving to Kershaw County, the jobs are not. In fact, according to the Department of Commerce, our county is nearly last in the state as far as job creation.
