Davia Stuckey ... CHS 2018 Co-Salutatorian

Due to changes in state grading system requirements, the information printed in Tuesday’s graduation section from Camden High School (CHS) was preliminary in nature. Now that seniors have taken all final tests, CHS is providing some updated information on its graduates.

CHS’ preliminary information on its top graduates correctly identified Sophia Altieri as the school’s valedictorian. However, it turns out there was a tie for salutatorian. In addition to Ashley Cobb, Davia Stuckey is also CHS’ co-salutatorian for 2018.

In addition, CHS now reports that the following students moved from the Honors list to the Distinguished Honors list: Madison Baker, Camron Boushyk and Keonte’ Kendrick. Furthermore, the following students have been added to the Honor graduates list: Taylor Bowman, Roberto Bravo, Shayla Hollingsworth, John Rice and Zachary Rovinski.

Finally, CHS now reports that nine students received S.C. Academic Achievement Honors awards. Students must have completed 24 units of credits as prescribed; met standards on all subtests of their exit examination; received a minimum grade of B for each semester in grades 9-12 through the seventh semester; and achieved either a score of 710 or higher on the SAT verbal, a score of 690 or higher on the SAT math section, a core of 30 or higher on the ACT English test, or a score of 33 or higher on the ACT math test.

Students can also achieve the honor if 18 of the 24 units they earned were college preparatory coursework, four units in additional electives and two units in either English, science, social studies or mathematics. College preparatory coursework includes four units of English I or above; four units of mathematics (Algebra I or above); three units of laboratory science; three total units of social studies, which can include U.S./S.C. studies, economics/government, and one
unit of either global studies/world history, global studies/work geography or western civilization; one unit of computer science; one unit of physical education; and two units of foreign language.

This year’s S.C. Academic Achievement Honors students are Sophia Altieri, Ashley Cobb, Davis Cobb, Adeline Foss, Courtney Glover, Whitley Kahler, Julia Keen, Garrett Lawson and Heather Woolard.
