S-LRCOG seeks Silver-Haired Legislature candidates

The Santee-Lynches Regional Council of Governments, serving Clarendon, Kershaw, Lee, and Sumter Counties, is seeking candidates to serve on the region’s Silver-Haired Legislature. The Silver-Haired Legislature is a statewide volunteer organization with representatives from each county who meet annually to discuss and prioritize issues of concern to South Carolina’s senior adults age 60 and older.

Created by state law, the Silver-Haired Legislature advocates for state legislation to improve the health and quality of life for seniors. The Silver-Haired Legislature for the Santee-Lynches region meets once per month to discuss these issues.  Individuals must be registered voters 60 years or older to serve on the Silver-Haired Legislature, but anyone, regardless of age, may contact the Silver-Haired Legislature regarding issues that affect adult seniors.

Individuals wishing to volunteer to serve on the Silver-Haired Legislature for the Santee-Lynches Region must complete an application no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018.  Applications which may be obtained at www.santeelynchescog.org or by visiting Santee-Lynches offices at 2525 Corporate Way, Sumter, SC 29154 or 39 E. Calhoun Street, Sumter, SC 29150.
