Hoops, golf, softball and football camps on deck

Here is the listing for youth sports camps in Kershaw County scheduled for next week:

Lugoff Elgin Basketball Camp: This camp is offered for boys and girls ages 5 - 14. The primary focus of this camp will be to teach young players basic basketball skills and fundamentals. The camp participants will also learn the concept of team play. There will be some scrimmage games and awards for free throw shooting, hustling, sportsmanship and more. There will be eight-foot goals for younger players. The camp is instructed by Lugoff-Elgin varsity girls head coach Von Duncan, members of the coaching staff and varsity players.

Dates:  June 18 - 21 

Location: Lugoff-Elgin High School gym

Ages:   5 - 14 

Hours:  9 a.m. - noon

Cost:  $60 per camper (includes T-shirt)

Golf Camp: Learn the fundamentals of golf or improve your skills in this camp directed by Matt McCarley, PGA professional. Held at the Camden Country Club, the camp is open to beginners through advance golfers. 

Dates: June 18 - 21 

Location: Camden Country Club, Knights Hill Road, Camden

Ages: 7 - 17 

Hours:  8 a.m. – 10 a.m. 

Cost: $85 per camper

Camden High Softball Camp: Learn the fundamental skills of fast pitch softball or improve your skills in the camp. Daily sessions will include defensive play, base running and hitting. Instructing the camp will be Camden High varsity softball coach Lynn Looney along with members of the Lady Bulldog varsity and junior varsity teams. 

Dates: June 18 - 22 

Location: Marcus Warren Softball Field, Ehrenclou Dr. 

Ages: 7 - 13 

Cost: $50   

Hours: 9 a.m. – noon

Demons Football Camp: The nightly training sessions will include all aspects of defense, offense and specialty techniques. Phases of the kicking game, the passing game, skill positions and line play will also be included thought the course of the three-night session. Overseeing the camp will be the Lugoff-Elgin High varsity football head coach and former NFL offensive lineman Matt Campbell along with members of his varsity coaching staff and Lugoff-Elgin varsity players. No football equipment is needed. Campers are asked to wear T-shirt, shorts and cleats as well as bring a water bottle.

Dates: June 18 – 20

Hours: 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Location: Lugoff-Elgin High School Stadium 

Ages: 8 and up 

Cost: $50 per camper (includes T-shirt)
