Two people died after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a truck Saturday afternoon.

According to a press release issued by Kershaw County Coroner David West, county dispatchers received the call about the collision at 4:07 p.m. at the intersection of S.C. 341 and Lockhart Road. West said the motorcycle was traveling west on S.C. 341 toward the town of Kershaw while the truck was traveling north on Lockhart Road.

“The two on the motorcycle were pronounced DOA on the scene,” West said.

He identified the deceased as Melvin L. Hopkins, 31, of Heath Springs, and Courtney Michele Lloyd, 27, of Kershaw.

“They were not wearing helmets,” West said.

He said the accident is under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.
