Letter: Still many good people living here

This is a little note to let our citizens of Kershaw County know that we still have many good people living in our area.

I am a 94-year-old WW II vet. I was in Walmart on June 16 wearing my WW II cap. I was stopped by a couple who seemed to be in their 30s and they thanked me for my service to our country. I thanked them for thanking me. When I went to check out, they were at the same check out line. As I followed them, when they had finished with their groceries, they took the groceries out of my cart and put them on the stand, ran them through with their groceries, and then paid for them and put them back in my cart.

I thanked them -- they told me that they could never do enough to repay me for  my service. As I got to my car, she came up to me and took the groceries out of the cart. put them in my car and thanked me again for my service.

I really didn’t deserve this type of treatment, but I am glad to know we still have people who will take the time to thank the service personnel for their service.

Thanks to all who do take the time to speak a good word.
