Westwood passes test, wins Battle of Camden Shootout

After having finished with a 1-3 record in pool play, the Camden High football team advanced to the semifinals of Wednesday’s inaugural Battle of Camden 7-on-7 Shootout.

Westwood High School won the 13-team passing league event which was played at the Camden High Athletic Complex and practice field as the Red Hawks defeated Lower Richland for the championship.

Camden opened its day by defeating River Bluff before losing to Nation Ford, Hillcrest and Blythewood to close out pool play. The Bulldogs were the number eight seed in the tournament and defeated Ben Lippen in opening round action before making it two straight by defeating Hillcrest in the second round. After receiving a third round bye, Camden fell to Lower Richland in the semifinals to complete its day.
