Colleges honor area students

Andrew James Gustafson has been named to the Dean’s List at Hampden-Sydney College for the spring semester of the 2017-2018 academic year. To earn this distinction, students must achieve at least a 3.3 semester grade point average out of a possible 4.0. He is the son of Todd and Mary Gustafson of Elgin.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked nationally by U.S. News & World Report.

The University of Hartford is pleased to announce Anna-Marie Neville, of Lugoff, has been named to its Dean’s List for spring 2018. The University of Hartford is centrally located in Connecticut.

Lander University recently named Nekella Polite and Nylenna Polite, both of Elgin, to the Dean’s List for their academic achievements during the spring semester of the 2017-2018 school year. To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must earn a GPA between 3.5 and 3.9 over the course of the semester.

The University of South Carolina Aiken recently named the following students to the Dean’s List for Spring 2018: Heather Ard of Elgin; Amethyst Marroquin of Elgin; Erin Spivey of Camden; Stacy Boone of Camden; James Stukes of Rembert; Mashylla Murphy of Cassatt.

To earn this distinction, students must be enrolled full-time and maintain a GPA of at least 3.5.

USC-Aiken also named the following students to the President’s List: Courtney Merz of Elgin; Morgan Schoolfield of Camden; Jeremy Stropes of Lugoff.

To earn this distinction, students must be enrolled full-time and maintain a GPA of at least 4.0.

The University of Alabama named Tucker Jerome Ervin and Megan E. Fletcher of Elgin to the Dean’s List and Katherine Taylor Long of Elgin to the President’s List for the Spring 2018 semester. To earn Dean’s List a student must have an academic average of 3.5 or above; to be named to the President’s List a student must have an academic record of 4.0 (all A’s).
