Jade Reynolds, public information coordinator with the S.C. Department of Social Services, was recently named Employee of the Month, one of four selected for May. Reynolds is a Kershaw County native.

Reynolds began with the Department in July of 2016. In her role as a public information coordinator, she is responsible for creating and sending out news releases on various agency programs and events; organizing materials for the agency’s employee newsletter; daily monitoring news outlets statewide for agency related articles and features; creating and editing PowerPoint presentations on different subjects; posts job openings weekly to agency Facebook page and Twitter account as well as other program activities and events.

Her nomination states: “(Jade) has taken the time and put in the effort to learn the mission of the agency and all of its programs and it reflects in her work. She not only understands how the department operates, but why and who it serves. In all of her work, her focus on the people we serve is evident and gives her writing depth and purpose. Jade has quickly become able to communicate the positive work being done by our staff in a compelling manner and each month contributes to positive press of our agency.

“Jade is also thoughtful and compassionate of others at all times. She sends encouraging notes to everyone on the team to build morale and make others feel valued. Simply put, Jade takes the time to do the little things to improve the working conditions of everyone around her. Jade’s passion, thoughtfulness and selfless nature reflects in all of her work and all of her interactions at this agency.”

Reynolds said she was “shocked and then humbly grateful,” for the honor.

“I’ve always enjoyed helping people, and I feel like with my current position, I get to do just that on a regular basis. I help my fellow DSS employees gather and edit information, and I help the public learn more about the variety of programs the agency offers,” she said.
