The Kershaw County Post 17 American Legion baseball team, the League III champion, will travel to Lexington tonight for game two of their first round best-of-five state American Legion baseball playoff series.

Game one was to have been played last night in Camden with game three being played at American Legion Park in Camden Wednesday night. Games four and five, if needed, will be played in Lexington and Camden, respectively. All will have a 7 p.m. start time.

In the other half of the four-team Midlands Region, Sumter is taking on Hartsville in round one with Sumter having the home field advantage for games one, three and five, if needed.

All four League III qualifiers are part of the four-team Midlands Region bracket with the winner advancing to the four-team American Legion state championship tournament.

The second round best-of-five series will begin on Monday, July 16. Should Post 17 get past its first round series it will, again, have home field advantage in round two.

The winner of the second round will travel to meet the Coastal Region winner --- a bracket which features defending state champion and League II champion Florence and League I champion Goose Creek/Charleston, either Monday, July 23 or, Tuesday, July 24 in the first game of the double-elimination state tournament.

After the first night of the event, the scene shifts to Spirit Communications Park in Columbia on Wednesday, July 25. The winner of the Midlands vs. Coastal region contest will play in a winners’ bracket game at 7 p.m. against the winner of the first round Upstate vs. Piedmont region game at the minor league park located off Bull Street with the loser playing an elimination contest at 3 p.m. that day.
