North Central High School (NCHS) Assistant Principal Chad Dixon has been named as the new principal of North Central Middle School (NCMS). Dixon is replacing Dr. Burch Richardson who is the new Kershaw County School District (KCSD) professional development director.

“Mr. Dixon is passionate and highly motivated,” KCSD Superintendent Dr. Shane Robbins said. “He will do a great job to continue the academic success at North Central Middle.”

Dixon has served as a NCHS assistant principal since 2012 and was a physical education teacher at the school for 11 years prior to that. He also has been a PE teacher at Bethune High School and Myrtle Beach High School. He served as the head of his department and head boys varsity basketball coach at all three high schools. Dixon developed the boys and girls country programs at NCHS and received the Region III-A Coach of the Year awards for both.

“I am excited and thrilled to continue serving the North Central area as the new principal at North Central Middle School,” Dixon said. “North Central Middle is an outstanding school that sets high expectations upon every student in a family atmosphere; I plan to continue to move the school in a positive direction. I am very humbled by this opportunity to serve this wonderful community."

Dixon completed KCSD’s Developing Administrators Program in 2017 and Apple’s Assistant Principal Program for Leadership Excellence in 2013. He has experience as a mentor teacher, supervising teacher for student teachers and as a teacher supervisor.

He earned a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Argosy University in 2004 and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Winthrop University in 1994 where he received the Winthrop Scholar Award.

Dixon is married to Jill, his wife of 24 years. They have four children, Caroline, Madison, Aubrey and Brayden, who have attended or currently attend the North Central area schools.
