Sara Marcengill ... new Kershaw County 4-H agent

Sara Marcengill has joined Clemson Extension full time as the new 4-H Agent for Kershaw County. She is from Westminster, S.C. and received her Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education from Clemson University in 2017. While attending Clemson, she worked with the University Professional Internship/Co-op and the Clemson Extension 4-H Shooting Sports program. During the time she worked with the 4-H Natural Resource Specialist and Shooting Sports Coordinator Rick Willey, her interests in 4-H programs and youth development was sparked, Marcengill said.

“I am very excited to serve Kershaw County as the 4-H Agent,” Marcengill said.  “I am committed to planning, implementing and maintaining the quality Extension education programs that 4-H has to offer for our county, region, state and national adult and youth clientele. I was not involved in 4-H growing up, but my dad graduated from Clemson in agricultural education and he taught agriculture at our local high school. He was a major influence on my decision to study and enter the field of agriculture. I believe that my passion for the educational material that the 4-H Extension programs have to offer will fuel my passion for youth development even more.”

The public is invited to the 4-H New Year Kick-Off, Saturday, Aug. 25 at the Homemakers Extension Building located next to the Clemson Extension office. During this event, people will have the opportunity to meet Marcengill and learn about various 4-H programs.

“It is open enrollment for the upcoming year and the Kershaw County 4-H clubs and projects would love to have you as a new member,” Marcengill said.
