Boykin Road (at top, in red) will be closed for 10 days beginning Tuesday. Traffic will be detoured along S.C. 97/Liberty Hill Road or U.S. 521/North Broad Street (both in yellow) to where they converge in Dusty Bend in order to go around the blocked road. The work is part of the S.C. Department of Transportation's creation of an enforceable truck route away from downtown Camden.

The S.C. Department of Transportation (    SCDOT) will close the entire length of Boykin Road to through traffic beginning today at 7:30 a.m. The road will remain closed through 5 p.m. Aug. 31.

A detour will be put in place, with directional signage, down either North Broad Street (U.S. 521) or Liberty High Road (S.C. 97) to Dusty Bend. Drivers, including trucks, will then be directed to either proceed through Camden or to loop back up the other street (either Broad Street or Liberty Hill Road), depending on their direction of travel.

SCDOT is asking drivers traveling near the project’s construction zone to be aware of equipment and crews working in the area at all times. The public is also asked to notice traffic control signs, reductions in speed limit and message board information, and to note that all road work is dependent on the weather.
