Despite strong performances by sophomore Tristan Ray and senior Michaelah Wise, Camden defeated Lugoff-Elgin, 199-218, in Monday’s season-opening girls’ golf match for both rivals played at the Camden Country Club.

Ray posted her career low with a 41 for nine holes while Wise turned in a strong first performance with for a 43. But the two low scores were not enough to overcome the depth of Camden team which received a 45 from Ava Neal and a 48 from teammate Taylor Kingsley.

Lady Demons drop tri-match: Lugoff-Elgin opened its 2018 volleyball season with a pair of losses in a Tuesday night tri-match hosted by Lexington.

In their season opener, the Lady Demons fell to Aiken, 25-10, 25-23. In the nightcap, the host Lady Wildcats defeated Katie Ham’s squad, 25-18, 25-16.
