A Jefferson woman died in a two-vehicle collision in the northern part of the county Saturday morning.

In a press release, Kershaw County Coroner David West identified the woman as 45-year-old Susan McClain of Jefferson. He said McClain was pronounced dead at the scene and was not wearing a seatbelt.

“Kershaw County 911 received a call at 8:46 a.m. Saturday of an auto accident at the intersection of Haile Gold Mine Road and Buffalo Creek Road,” West said in the press release. “The pickup truck that (McClain) was driving was headed north on Buffalo Creek Road and ran a stop sign hitting a truck pulling a hay wagon loaded with hay.”

West said a male passenger in McClain’s pickup truck suffered no injuries. He said no one in the truck pulling the hay wagon suffered any injuries.
