Camden’s depth continued to pay off as the Lady Bulldogs’ golf team improved to 4-0 on the season with wins over Sumter and Lugoff-Elgin on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.

Matt McCarley’s charges overwhelmed Sumter on the road Monday, winning 202-253. Taylor Kingsley, an eighth-grader, led Camden against the Lady Gamecocks with a 44 while teammate Ava Neal carded a 47.

On Tuesday, L-E senior Michaelah Wise took medalist honors at the Camden Country Club with a career-low 40 in Camden’s 190-212 win over the Lady Demons.

Wise’s round could have been even better had it not been for a triple bogey on the final hole.

Neal led the way for Camden with a 41 while Kingsley and teammate Olivia Huggins were next with a 45 and a 46, respectively.

Sophomore Tristan Ray shot a 51 for Zoe Dommel’s Lady Demons and had a birdie on the par 4 first hole. Sophomore Jessica Ni scored her personal-best with a 60 with senior Kelsey Ham also recording a personal-best, carding a 63. Both Ham and Ni scored their first pars in competition. Brooke Jackson, an L-E freshman, had her best round of the season with a 61.

The Lady Demons’ 212 score was their best round of the young season. The school record is 201, set last Sept. 5.

Both CHS and L-E will have a few days off with the Lady Bulldogs returning to action when they travel to meet A.C. Flora on Thursday, Sept. 6. That same afternoon, the Lady Demons are scheduled to meet Ridge View and Dutch Fork in a tri-match at the Windermere Club in Blythewood.
