The city of Camden would like to alert residents to upcoming events that will affect traffic and parking throughout Camden this weekend. Please note that the schedule of these events is subject to change due to the anticipated effects of Hurricane Florence.

At this moment, the 24 Hours of Lemons Downtown Block Party is scheduled for Friday evening at the Town Green and the block of Rutledge Street between Market and Broad streets. Individual public parking spaces around the Town Green, and to the north, alongside Wells Fargo (former Hazelwood site) and south, alongside former Old Armory, will be closed throughout the afternoon, in preparation for the 24 Hours of Lemons Downtown Block Party. The City requests that all vehicles be removed from the public parking spaces by 4 p.m. on Friday, in order for event set up to run smoothly in preparation for the Lemons Parade at approximately 6 p.m. All public parking spaces will be open Saturday, September 15.

In addition, the street parking on the block of Rutledge Street between Market and Broad Streets will be used for Lemons car parking and will be closed to vehicle traffic during the 24 Hours of Lemons Downtown Block Party. The city requests that all vehicles be removed from the public parking spaces on this block by 5 p.m. on Friday, September 14. Rutledge Street will reopen once all Lemons cars have been moved at the end of the event, approximately 10 p.m.

On Saturday, September 15, the Springdale 5K will affect traffic temporarily on Knight’s Hill Road in the area of the National Steeplechase Museum and nearby residential street in the neighborhood. Though no streets will be completely closed during the event, the city is asking that motorists be aware of runners/walkers and drive with caution during the morning hours. All roads should be clear of Springdale 5K participants by noon.

City staff thanks the public for its understanding and cooperation during these community events. If you have any questions, please call city hall at (803) 432-2421.
