"Mac" Thompson

Lugoff-Elgin High School senior McMillian “Mac” Thompson has been named a National Merit semifinalist.  Mac is the son of Anthony and Tabatha Thompson.

Semifinalists are the highest scorers in each of the 50 states on the 2017 PSAT college entrance exam and represent less than one percent of each state’s high school seniors.

More than 1.6 million students took the 2017 PSAT and roughly 16,000 have been named as semifinalists. Approximately 15,000 semifinalists will be named as finalists in February based on students’ academic records, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership and awards and honors.  Finalists will be awarded more than $31 million in National Merit scholarships.
