With top scorer Michaelah Wise out of the lineup due to academic commitments, the Lugoff-Elgin girls’ golf team lost an 18-hole match to Dutch Fork, 438-517, Tuesday at the Camden Country Club.

With Wise out, Tristan Ray filled the number one slot for the Lady Demons and led the way with a 100 which was her best 18-hole high school score.

“It was important for us to get in 18 holes before our region qualifier coming up on Monday,” said L-E head coach Zoe Dommel. “We have several players that had not played 18 before and this was a good opportunity for them. Instead of them picking up at double par, we had them pick up when they reached 10 strokes on a hole.

“I feel pretty confident that we can play 18 tournament holes.”

Sophomore Jessica Ni shot 130 in her first 18-hole event while Mary Elizabeth McCaskill, an eighth-grader, shot 162. L-E Senior Kelsey Ham shot 137 and freshman Brooke Jackson shot 150.
