It’s that time of the year again, when our little ghosts, goblins and other assorted characters take to the streets for trick or treating.

In fact, Halloween is tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Whether you participate, like, or even agree with Halloween and the practice of trick or treating, the fact is it is a popular and time-honored tradition. That means chances are there will be quite a number of children dressed up in costumes and walking along the streets, most likely in your neighborhood and most likely during times of low visibility such as at dusk and full dark. Therefore, if you are driving, please be extra careful. Likewise, if you are out with your little ghosts and goblins, please keep a watchful eye on them.

By the same token, as a gentle reminder, some people do not care to participate in Halloween. If you don’t want to be visited, don’t fret -- just turn off the front lights in your house. Likewise, if you are out trick or treating and see a house with front and/or outside lights off, please do not go up and ring the doorbell; clearly they are not interested.

Let’s all be courteous, use our common sense and have a safe and happy Halloween!
