Following a season in which North Central ran the table in Region 4-AA and then, played for the AA Upper State championship, it should come as no surprise that members of the 2018 Lady Demons’ volleyball program were accorded postseason state and conference honors.

The Lady Knights were 12-0 in 4-AA competition while winning all 36 sets in those contests. NC finished with an overall 27-4 record after falling to eventual state champion St. Joseph’s of Greenville in the AA Upper State finals.

For the second time in as many seasons, NC freshman outside hitter Alayna Johnson was named to the South Carolina Coaches Association of Women’s Sports’ AA All-State squad. Joining Johnson on the select unit was junior teammate and NC Libero Peyton Holley. They were honored as part of the North-South All-Star matches in Erskine on Nov. 17.

Johnson was also selected as the Region 4-AA player of the year for the second straight season. Her father, Lady Knights’ head coach Andy Johnson, earned the conference coach of the year honor for his work in leading the team to the league crown.
