Thursday will be a day of fun and accomplishment for more than 200 athletes from 20 classes in schools across the Kershaw County School District -- that’s the new day for the Kershaw County Special Olympics that was postponed due to inclement weather earlier this month.

Registration will begin at 9:15 a.m. at Camden Military Academy. Student athletes will participate in a variety of athletic events throughout the day including a walk/run, tennis ball throw, softball throw, standing long jump and soccer kick. Other outdoor games, face painting and a dance are also a part of the festivities.

“This is always a great day,” said Kershaw County School District Superintendent Frank Morgan. “The athletes learn the value of teamwork and cooperation while benefitting from physical exercise.”

The public is invited to attend. Activities are expected to be completed by 1:30 p.m.
