Camden's Tucker named SWAC player of the week

CAMDEN’S SANCHEZ TUCKER is having a big junior campaign at Alabama A&M University.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Former Camden High School and Kershaw County Post 17 American Legion baseball standout Sanchez Tucker, a junior at Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, was named as the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Player of the Week for games played between April 5 –11.

Tucker batted .533 (8 for 15) in four games during a week in which the Bulldogs finished with two wins. He scored six runs and his base hits included a double and three triples. He was also 2-for-4 in stolen bases over the course of the four games.

The 5-foot-11, 160-pound Tucker, is second on Bulldogs in batting with a .333 average after 24 contests and 81 at bats. The junior has totaled 11 runs, 27 hits, two doubles, three triples and 35 runs batted in.

On the mound, Tucker is tied for the team lead with two wins while having struck out a team-best 37 batters in his 12 appearances.
