SAFE Federal Credit Union will host a free Shred-It Day for credit union members and the community Oct. 20.

The service will be offered from 3 to 6 p.m. at SAFE’s branch at 407 Rutledge St. in Camden.

It is estimated that every year more than 8 million Americans fall victim to identity theft, losing over $40 billion dollars annually, according to SAFE officials. Protect yourself from identity theft with free shredding of all personal documents. Bring up to four boxes of items to be shredded. Suggested items to shred are financial statements, cancelled checks, credit card statements and credit card pre-approval letters, payroll stubs, insurance forms, old tax returns, forms from doctor’s offices, etc.
