King Haiglar Garden Club to host October meeting

The October meeting of the King Haiglar Garden Club will be held Monday at 3:30 p.m. Jane Hannon will host the meeting at 586 Old Mill Lane, Camden. Harriett Thomas and Frances Hendrix will assist Jane as co-hostesses.

The educational program titled “Trellises, Arbors, and Pergolas” will be presented by Carla Cox Brophie. The arrangement theme for October is “A Time to Pluck Up Which is Planted” (fall fruits and veggies may be included).

Members displaying garden specimens will be judged by Cheryl Black, Linda Shaylor, Judy Smith, and Janice Mahoney. Garden maintenance for October will be done by Michelle Herod and Mary Nelle Gore.

The King Haiglar Garden Club maintains plantings at the Camden Post office, Archives, KC Courthouse, and Fine Arts Center. Visitors are invited to monthly meetings. Contact Nancy Carlson at 432-6280.

October Garden Tips

1. Use fallen leaves to mulch flower and vegetable gardens.

2. Divide and replant perennials.

3. Clean garden tools to store for winter.

4. Prepare to plant spring blooming bulbs.

5. Plant mums for fall color.
