During the month of May, the Lugoff Fire Department (LFD) and Lugoff Dollar General location teamed up through a “Help End Hunger” campaign to collect and distribute food items within the Lugoff community. Members of the Lugoff community and the surrounding areas were asked to drop off unopened non-perishable food items at the Lugoff Dollar General. These food items will be collected at the store and picked up by LFD firefighters to be distributed to needy families in the Lugoff area. The food collection will continue through Tuesday at the store, located at 15 Roseborough Road off U.S. 1 in Lugoff. Families in the Lugoff area with critical food needs may contact the LFD at 438-2553 for information. Food distributions will depend on the total amount of food given to the store. Here, Dollar General Store Manager Brian Kelly (left) and LFD Chief Dennis Ray discuss the progress of the food drive.
