Jackson School newsletter honored

The South Carolina Chapter of National School Public Relations Association celebrated the effectiveness of 93 programs and projects from across the state including one from Jackson School at its annual Rewards for Excellence awards ceremony May 6 in Columbia.

This program recognizes outstanding communications and public relations efforts by South Carolina schools, school districts, and education agencies and associations.Public relations veterans with extensive experience in educational and business communications evaluated 143 entries.

The Rewards for Excellence Program features three awards programs: Medallion (for comprehensive public relations programs), Golden Achievement (for a single project or an aspect of a comprehensive program) and Publications and Electronic Media (for individual products designed to improve communication.)

Jackson School was among the honorees for its entry of the “LEED”er. The “LEED”er is Jackson’s school newsletter, published by Kristen Clay, teacher and technology specialist. This is her second year at Jackson. She also manages the school website which was recently recognized by EChalk as a model website and was published in their national newsletter as a reference for other schools designing their webpage.

SC/NSPRA is an affiliate of the National School Public Relations Association. The state chapter is composed of more than 70 school public relations practitioners, superintendents, and other educational professionals from across the state. The organization strives to foster development in the field of school public relations and to encourage meaningful community involvement in and understanding of the public school system.
