Ed McKenzie

A celebration of life service for James Edward “Ed” McKenzie, of Camden, will be Monday, May 30th at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Camden. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the church fellowship center.

Ed died Friday, May 27th, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born Feb. 9, 1944 in Kershaw County, he was the son of Mae Sinclair Mc-Kenzie and the late James “Chubby” Trapp McKenzie.

A graduate of Camden High and Clemson University as an electrical engineer, he enjoyed being a ham radio operator, traveling and being on the tractor at the farm. After 33 years of service with NASA at Kennedy Space Center he retired and got married. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Adult IV Co-ed SS class. 

Survivors include his mother, Mae Sinclair McKenzie; wife, Frances Dymock Burgess Mc-Kenzie; sister, Carolyn Rambo Glass (Robert) of Lancaster, CA; stepsons, Michael Burgess (Giovana) of Lithia, FL and Mark Burgess of Boiling Spring, SC; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; a niece, Dr. Anita Vanderstelt (Gary) of Lowell, MI; and nephew, Glen Rambo (Jane) of Maricopa, AZ.

The family would like to thank Dr. Phillip Baldwin and staff of their loving care. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to your favorite charity.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
