Last year the KershawHealth Foundation made a grant of $210,000 for the purchase of a lithotripter, which uses sound waves to break up kidney stones into tiny pieces that are easily passed. This grant, along with $90,000 from the Carolina Cup Racing Association, which annually provides funding to KershawHealth from the running of the Carolina and Colonial Cups, made the purchase possible.
