William Cantey of Camden is now a certified energy savings specialist and franchisee with Dr. Energy Saver, a leading home energy conservation franchise system.

Cantey was awarded a Dr. Energy Saver franchise following completion of intensive training and certification.

“He was trained by the very best in every aspect of being a energy savings specialist, from learning building science and how to diagnose the way a home uses, loses and wastes energy and money, to how to fix these problems so homeowners can enjoy healthier, more comfortable homes and reduce their utility and energy bills,” said Larry Walters, Dr. Energy Saver CEO.

Dr. Energy Saver franchisees work with homeowners to identify and diagnose the causes of energy wasting problems in their homes in 10 key areas.  The emphasis on each area depends on what the Dr. Energy Saver franchisee uncovers during a whole home energy evaluation and what the homeowner is looking to accomplish toward making their homes more energy efficient, comfortable and healthy. The 10 energy areas assessed, Walters said, include air sealing, insulation, radiant barrier, duct repair, heating and air conditioning, water heating, lighting, water conservation, windows and doors and appliances.

“I’ve come to realize that many homeowners want to find ways to lower their costs of owning their homes.  They want to make their homes more energy efficient, but often don’t know how or even where to start,” said Cantey. Homeowners also don’t really know which energy efficiency upgrades will give them the best bang for their buck … whether new windows or air sealing and insulation for example will give them the best return on their investment in their homes.

Dr. Energy Saver can help homeowners assess how their homes use, lose and waste energy and money and

Cantey is also co-owner of Cantey Construction in Camden.
